Job Description

The University of Florida Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a motivated and compassionate Maternal‑Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialist to join our team as a full‑time faculty member. Academic track (tenure or non‑tenure track) and rank (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) will be based on qualifications. The position will also include responsibilities as the Program Director for the Maternal‑Fetal Medicine Fellowship.

Our Maternal‑Fetal Medicine clinical team consists of seven clinical faculty, three fellows, six ambulatory advanced practice providers, 12 ultrasound technicians, two perinatal nurse navigators, and one genetic counselor. Care is provided at three ambulatory offices and one hospital facility, UF Health Shands Hospital, which has been designated a Level IV maternal care verified facility by the Joint Commission's Maternal Levels of Care Verification program.

As a perinatologist, this individual will carry out the division's missions of patient care, education, and research.

Education Responsibilities

Supervision of residents and MFM fellows in the fundamentals of maternal‑fetal medicine, including surgical and ultrasound skills required to optimize pregnancy outcomes. Education of third‑year medical students in the OB‑GYN clerkship and fourth‑year students on the MFM elective.

Program Director Responsibilities

The MFM Fellowship Program Director has responsibility, authority, and accountability for administration and operations, teaching and scholarly activity oversight, fellow recruitment and selection, oversight of fellows, and fellows' education in the context of patient care. The Director is also responsible for the standards, quality, reputation, and ongoing improvement of the program while remaining compliant with institutional and ACGME requirements. Protected time will be provided.

Faculty participate in assigned hospital, medical school, and department committees; attend and support department activities (rounds, special lectures, postgraduate courses, etc.); and participate in division conferences and fellowship activities. Scholarly and research activities are encouraged.

Minimum Requirements
  • Medical Degree or equivalent, active or eligible Florida medical license
  • American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) board certified or eligible
  • Completion of an approved fellowship and board certified or eligible in Maternal‑Fetal Medicine
