Student Asst - Federal Community Service
- Must be currently enrolled as a student, at least half time, at the University of Florida.
- Must be awarded Federal Work Study as part of a student financial aid package.
- Must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.
- Must maintain course credits required to continue to receive work study.
- Must pass a Background Check prior to placement in off-campus schools and/or community centers.
- Must attend mandatory paid training prior to placement in off-campus schools and/or community centers.
- Must be able to travel to the assigned, off campus site.

America Reads is one of the preeminent federal community service programs in the country. Its mission? To mobilize an army of trained tutors to help children become successful readers.
UF America Reads tutors work with students who need additional help with reading in elementary schools and community centers throughout Gainesville. All financial aid recipients with Federal Work Study in their award are welcome to apply, regardless of major. - Availability to work a minimum of two days per week
, Monday through Friday, for 2-4 hours each day between the hours of 8:00am-Noon or 2:30-5:30pm during the Spring 2026 semester. - Ability to travel to the assigned, off campus site.
- Ability to attend mandatory orientation and paid training sessions.
- Commitment to work at least one full semester.
- Maintenance of at least a 2.0 GPA.
- Maintenance of course credits required to continue to receive work study.
- A clear Background Check prior to placement in off-campus schools and/or community centers.
