Job Description: The Department of Pediatrics, Neurology Division, is currently accepting applications for an Education/Training Specialist III. This full‑time, 12‑month, Educational Consultant position is at the FDLRS UF Multidisciplinary Diagnostic and Training Program (MDTP).
Responsibilities- Serving as a liaison between MDTP, parents, and schools/districts.
- Providing consultation services to parents, teachers, instructional personnel, and other school staff to facilitate implementation of evidence‑based interventions to improve academic engagement, learning, skill development, and readiness for post‑secondary transition of at‑risk K‑12 students with complex needs who are struggling academically.
- Providing direct coaching and mentoring to teachers within an MTSS framework.
- Collaboration consultation to educators in school‑based educational planning meetings.
- Delivering direct educational consultation services to students.
- Conducting student behavioral observations in classroom settings and providing targeted support.
- Conducting comprehensive progress monitoring assessments with students, families, and teachers/school personnel to determine effectiveness.
- Writing consultation reports and maintaining appropriate records timely.
- Developing and delivering in‑service and pre‑service training on evidence‑based behavior management, reading and math instruction, drop‑out prevention, and other topics.
$69,700 – $78,225 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Doctorate in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid educator certifications from the State of Florida Department of Education.
- At least three years' experience in a Florida school district.
- Valid driver's license capable of driving within the north‑central Florida service region.
- Strong knowledge of standardized psychological, language, and academic assessment measures and evidence‑based interventions for K‑12 students.
- Knowledge of Florida's Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and proficiency in data analysis.
- Ability to deliver evidence‑based educational consultation to teachers, parents, principals, and district staff for struggling K‑12 students with dyslexia and other special education needs.
- Proficiency in communicating evaluation findings orally and in writing.
- Ability to work with diverse groups, collaborate, problem‑solve, and facilitate conflict resolution.
- Strong working knowledge of current exceptional student education policies and procedures, state and federal laws.
- Ability to design and deliver professional development to educators and related service providers.
- Proficiency with industry‑standard computer applications and technology.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent time‑management and organizational skills.
- Commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement.
- Flexibility in workday and hours to accommodate client needs.
- Bilingual with Spanish language proficiency.
- Proficiency with web‑based computer technologies.
Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., although hours may be flexible depending on requirements. Travel within North Central Florida region required as needed.
