The Department of Sociology and Criminology & Law at the University of Florida invites applications for a full-time, nine‑month, non‑tenure‑accruing position at the rank of Lecturer. The Lecturer will focus on legal decision making in the social context of law, teaching three Law & Society courses each semester and supporting undergraduate advising and research collaboration.
Responsibilities• Teach courses such as Law & Legal Process, Law & Society, Juvenile Law, Criminal Law, and Criminal Procedure in face‑to‑face, online, or hybrid formats; and develop new courses in legal decision making if applied.
• Provide undergraduate advising and support research and teaching initiatives, including UF Quest and the Beyond
120 program.
• Contribute to campus and college‑wide initiatives that enhance the educational experience and professional development of students.
Required Qualifications- Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology or a related social science field by date of hire. A Juris Doctor alone is not sufficient.
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in face‑to‑face and/or online modalities.
- Experience teaching multiple Law & Society courses in the undergraduate Criminology & Law curriculum.
- Experience teaching upper‑division specialty Law & Society courses.
- Teaching various class sizes using multiple modalities and instructional technologies.
- Commitment to undergraduate education through advising and undergraduate research collaboration.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with enthusiasm for teaching.
