Role and Responsibilities
This is an advanced‑level position involving specialized work in a structural material testing facility. General responsibilities include performing advanced structural materials testing; analyzing and evaluating composite materials; developing and managing databases; analyzing test data; reviewing plans, standard operating procedures, manuals, and specifications; evaluating quality control plans and programs; and communicating effectively with District, Project, Producer, and Contractor personnel.
The ideal candidate will have previous laboratory work experience, knowledge of laboratory safety procedures, the ability to work in a team environment, skills in the use of computers and Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to perform duties with a high level of accuracy. This position will be working in the Laboratory in the Structural Materials Section.
Specific duties include:
- Perform advanced testing of structural materials.
- Report, evaluate, and analyze test results.
- Implement emerging testing technologies and methodologies.
- Develop and upgrade databases.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders.
- Produce technical reports and review research project documents.
- Review, maintain and develop specifications, test methods, quality control plans, and standard laboratory procedures.
- Occasional travel may be required for field inspections and material sampling.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent;
Ability to lift 50 pounds;
Ability to perform laboratory testing;
Ability to operate a computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
