The Respiratory Therapist performs direct patient care to patients in all aspects of respiratory care according to the physician’s orders/approved protocols, with consideration given to the age of the patient.
Overview
The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities in the cardiopulmonary system. The clinical work includes:
- Setting up and managing mechanical ventilation.
- Assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and intubations.
- Monitoring physiological responses to therapy.
- Educating patients and their families about their conditions.
- Teaching appropriate disease management techniques.
Qualifications
Minimum
Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduate of a respiratory program such that the individual is eligible to take the CRTT board exam or has achieved previous work experience making candidate eligible to sit for Certification Exam as per either State of Florida or NBRC rules.
