Job Description:
The University of Florida's College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) is recruiting for the position of Chair and Professor/Associate Professor of Clinical and Health Psychology.
The department seeks a dynamic leader whose key responsibilities include promoting department-wide excellence in education, scholarship, and clinical reach through recruiting, developing, and retaining outstanding faculty and staff, deploying resources, and facilitating a positive culture. The chair will provide strategic oversight and collaborative leadership across core departmental functions—including academic programs, clinical services, research support, and administrative operations—by empowering program directors and staff, ensuring accreditation and funding continuity, and fostering innovation and growth.
Reporting to the dean, the chair will work with college leadership to identify and implement strategic initiatives and partnerships. This is a full-time (1.0
FTE), 12-month appointment.
The Department of Clinical and Health Psychology is a national leader in research, training and service provision in the areas of Child and Pediatric, Health, and Neuropsychology. The department offers programming at four levels of training: (1) Ph.D. Program, APA-accredited since 1953, (2) Internship Program, APA-accredited since 1967, (3) Postdoctoral Training Program, APPIC-affiliated since 2020, and (4) Undergraduate teaching. The department’s research spans pediatric and adult chronic illness management, cognitive aging, neurodegenerative diseases, stigma, behavioral interventions, and the integration of advanced technologies (e.g., neuroimaging, AI, neuromodulation, telehealth) to enhance diagnosis, treatment, and health outcomes across the lifespan, with a strong emphasis on understudied populations and translational science.
UF Health Psychology Specialties is a nonprofit, multidisciplinary training clinic offering lifespan psychological and neuropsychological assessment and evidence-based therapy with a focus on integrated, supervised care for varied behavioral, cognitive, and emotional concerns—ranging from chronic illness and neurodevelopmental disorders to trauma and mood disorders—while serving as a vital referral and consultation resource for UF Health’s medical community.
The Department of Clinical and Health Psychology is housed in the College of Public Health and Health Professions. PHHP is comprised of eight departments:
Biostatistics, Clinical and Health Psychology, Environmental and Global Health, Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Management and Policy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. The college has 178 faculty who contribute to its four missions — research, education, clinical care and service — and is united by a common focus on prevention. It is ranked 9th in NIH research funding among public schools of public health, according to the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research.
The college houses 25 degree programs that span undergraduate, professional doctorate, master’s and doctoral programs including the Bachelor of Health Science, Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Doctor of Physical Therapy.
