Job Description
Core Research Facility Technician III
Responsibilities- Provide expertise in modern flow cytometry, small particle analysis and confocal/optical microscopy procedures to IC customers;
Provide support to IC customers in proper use of instrumentation, guidance in experimental design and selection of instrumentation to accomplish experimental aims;
Troubleshoot and resolve problems with the instruments in the Core;
Perform data analysis using software including DIVA 9.0, Sony analyzer, NanoFCM analyzer and Flow Jo v.11;
Provide education, training and consultation to core facility users/customers on Core instrument platforms;
Assist with the training and mentoring of new employee. - Perform daily instrument calibrations and monitor daily QC parameters according to established SOPs;
Ensure optimal instrument performance via conducting periodic preventive maintenance and/or repairs;
Schedule instrument maintenance when appropriate;
Assist Core Scientific Director with the design of new training programs on instruments;
Participate in user training sessions and presentations. - Schedule trainings, sorters, and drop-off accordingly to Cross Lab requests queue. Create, review, and update SOPs as needed. Work on paperwork as requested to ensure best practices are applied in the lab. Assist the Core Director with billing using the timer and Cross Lab system.
- Ensure compliance with EHS and other institutional and government regulations. Adhere to UF EHS compliance guidelines. Monitor and maintain laboratory supply inventory. Clean Autoclave glassware, supplies, and biohazardous trash.
$45,000 - $46,500 per year, commensurate with education and experience
Required QualificationsBA/BS in a related scientific field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Core or technology-specific licensure and/or certifications, where applicable.
Additionally, a yearly certificate and compliance training, if required.
Preferred QualificationsBS in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or related scientific field with 3-4 years of hands‑on experience in a basic research laboratory.
1-2 years of hands‑on Flow Cytometry experience.
Experience in standard operation of BD FORTESSA, BD CANTO II, and/or other cytometers.
Proficient in the use of Agilent Crosslab (iLab).
