Responsibilities
  • Assess needs and provide therapy to children and families verified as victims of abuse and neglect following Child Protection Team assessments. Provide evidence‑based psychotherapeutic treatments, case management support planning and consultation.
  • Provide counseling to child victims, siblings of victims, and non‑offending caregivers. Offer direct, evidence‑based psychotherapy services and interventions to patients and families.
  • Coordinate counseling intakes with Child Advocacy Center (CAC) and Child Protection Team (CPT) staff. Screen and assess complex mental health needs of patients and their families, identifying strengths and weaknesses for needed services.
  • Maintain client records to ensure program requirements are met and make referrals to community resources. Follow‑up on referrals to aid in linking patients and families with providers and community services.
  • Develop behaviorally specific treatment plans for all family members involved, complete safety planning to prevent continued or ongoing abuse, and participate in weekly administrative staffing meetings to review patients and treatment planning.
  • Travel daily within a five‑county catchment area to attend case staffings, coordinate client services, and maintain client records. Conduct training for the community as assigned and provide depositions and court testimony as required. Maintain required annual training, including a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education annually in child abuse.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in social work, psychology, mental health counseling, or a related field.
  • All State of Florida requirements met for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), with two years post‑degree supervised experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Completion of on‑the‑job training at the Gainesville site (Alachua County).
  • Completion of 20 hours of continuing education per year during employment in this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of clinical counseling experience, with at least six months providing treatment to sexually abused children and their families.
  • Experience in trauma‑focused care and planning.
  • Experience utilizing standardized assessment tools to determine a client’s current presenting problems.
  • Certification in Trauma‑Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or other evidence‑based treatment models.
