Job Description

Assess needs and provide therapy to children and families verified as victims of abuse and neglect following Child Protection Team assessments. Provide evidence based psychotherapeutic treatments, as well as case management support planning and consultation. Assist families in coping with their child's mental health challenges and in partnering with treatment team members, including medical providers at the Child Protection Team.

  • Provide Counseling to child victims, siblings of victims, non‑offending caregivers. Provide direct, evidence‑based psychotherapy services and interventions to patients and families.
  • Coordinate counseling intakes with Child Advocacy Center (CAC) and Child Protection Team (CPT) staff. Screen and assess complex mental health needs of patients and their families, including identifying strengths and weaknesses for needed services.
  • Maintain client records to ensure program requirements are met. Assure that referrals to access community resources and support toward optimal outcomes are made in a timely manner and will follow‑up on such referrals. Aid with the development of linkages with providers and community services that will enable patients and families to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Develop behaviorally specific treatment plans for all family members involved in the program. Complete safety planning to prevent continued or ongoing abuse. Participate in weekly administrative staffing meetings to review new patients, patients in treatment, and treatment planning and coordination.
  • Daily travel required within 5 county catchment area. Attend case staffings and coordinate client services and community referrals. Maintain client records, including tracking of treatment goals and objectives consistent with program requirements. Conduct training for the community as assigned. Provide depositions and court testimony as required. Maintain the required annual training. A minimum of 20 hours continuing education annually in child abuse must be completed.
Expected

Salary

$70,000- $74,000, annually

Required Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in social work, psychology, mental health counseling, or related field.
  • All State of Florida requirements met for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), with two years post‑degree supervised experience.
  • Valid driver's license and access to personal vehicle (required)
  • Must complete on‑the‑job training at Gainesville site (Alachua County)
  • 20 hours of continuing education is required per year during employment in this job.
Preferred
  • One year of clinical counseling experience; six months of which should be in providing treatment to sexually abused children and their families
  • Experience in Trauma focused care and planning
  • Experience in utilizing standardized assessment tools in determining a client’s current presenting problem(s)
  • Certification in Trauma‑Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or other evidence‑based treatment models.
