Overview
Job Description: The Medical Assistant provides patient care in a physician’s office setting under the direct responsibility of a licensed physician. Clinical skills performed are within the scope of a Medical Assistant as defined by Florida Statutes 458.3485 and UFHP Clinical Policy and Procedure. The MA may also perform clerical, insurance, and medical record functions. May be required to float to other UFHP practices, as needed, for staffing.
The Licensed Practical Nurse will focus on providing high level patient-centered care in a physician office setting by measuring and recording vital signs, placing patients in exam rooms, preparing patients for exams/procedures, assisting the health care provider with exams/procedures, providing patient support during exams, maintaining medical supply inventory, and stocking exam rooms. The LPN will also provide patient care by administering medications, processing patient phone calls per practice protocols, instructing patients regarding health care and treatments, and providing health care provider with information pertaining to patients’ health status.
May be required to float to other UFHP practices, as needed, for staffing.

- May float to other UFHP practices to support staffing needs.
- Medical Assistant – Minimum
Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program and certification (ACMA, AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMCA, AMT, EMT allowed in lieu of MA cert.). One year of direct patient care experience in ambulatory care preferred. Must have initiative, multitask effectively, and work well in a team. Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant. Basic Life Support (CPR) required or obtained within first 90 days of employment. - LPN – Minimum
Education and Experience:
Licensed LPN eligible to practice in the State of Florida. One year of ambulatory care or hospital experience preferred. Strong customer service, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Must have current LPN licensure in Florida. Florida is part of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). AHA or Red Cross Basic Life Support (CPR) required or obtained within first 90 days of employment. Must successfully complete medication test within 30 days of hire.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
Employees in this position will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose.
