Dietitian Dietary Varies

Overview

Provides clinical nutrition care to patients, evaluating nutritional status and developing, implementing, monitoring, and documenting nutrition care plans. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development across the life span. Serves as a resource with development of age-specific education materials and instruction of dietetic students.

• Provide clinical nutrition care to patients and assess data reflective of patients' status.
• Evaluate nutritional status and develop, implement, monitor, and document nutrition care plans.
• Serve as a resource with development of age-specific education materials and instruction of dietetic students.

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in clinical dietetics.
• Completion of an American Dietetic Association (ADA) approved dietetic program. Masters degree preferred.
• Prefer three to five years clinical experience with two years in a clinical setting.
• Thorough knowledge of nutrition assessment and nutrient requirements; familiarity with current theory and practices of dietetics for the patient population.
• Familiarity with research procedures and protocols desirable.
• CPR certification required; strong communication skills and ability to interact positively with professional and non-professional hospital and health science center personnel.
• Ability to participate as a team member of the interdisciplinary team.
• Licensure/Certification/Registration:
  Must have passed or be eligible to take the ADA Registration exam; must be a state of Florida licensed dietitian/nutritionist or be eligible for licensure. Within six months of starting employment, must have passed ADA Registration and become licensed as a dietitian/nutritionist in Florida; failure to do so may affect employment continuation.
