Position: OP L1 Pharm Tech | Pharmacy | Variable | Full Time
Overview

Responsible for performing technical and clerical functions associated with providing ambulatory pharmaceutical services.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

One of the following requirements must be met for minimum training or minimum experience in lieu of training:

a. 6 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician Level 1 experience and completion of all required competencies.

b. Completion of Shands Hospital Technician Training Program.

c. Current enrollment in the Shands Hospital Pharmacy Technician Training Program, with the consent of the program director.

d. Completion of Military Hospital Core School and/or Field Service School.

e. Completion of an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program.

f. Completion of a college-based Pharmacy Technician Training Program.

g. One year hospital pharmacy technician experience.

h. One year retail pharmacy technician experience.

i. One year pharmaceutical inventory function experience, including proper ordering from approved vendors to ensure adequate inventory based on demand, as well as maintenance of pharmacy inventory.

j. One year (24 credit hours) science-based college-level study, including successful completion of Algebra.

k. One year experience transcribing/interpreting physician orders plus 12 credit hours of science-based college-level study, including successful completion of Algebra.

l. Active status as a certified pharmacy technician with PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board).

Candidates with multiple qualifications from section 2 are preferred.

Job Knowledge:

Must know how to operate a typewriter, calculator, and computer workstation.

Must demonstrate the ability to perform mathematical calculations required to prepare medications.

Additional Requirements:

All employees must be accessible by telephone, providing a valid telephone number to the department Staff Assistant for hospital need or emergency contact.

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose.

Note: A frequent driver uses their personal or Shands vehicle at least once daily, at least five trips per week, or over 150 miles weekly. Indicate the operator designation on the RFP form when submitting a request.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: All Pharmacy Technicians must be registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy or licensed Pharmacist Intern before employment begins.
