Overview
Under direct supervision, performs routine laboratory analytical procedures related to preparing and storing human biological samples, blood and body fluids, for microbiological, hematological, immune‑hematological and chemical analysis. Releases and/or places orders in hospital and laboratory computer systems, receives, processes and distributes specimens and/or blood products. Performs various functions including loading samples onto analyzers, preparing slides for staining and preparing samples for transport to other laboratories.
QualificationsMinimum
Education and Experience Requirements:
High School graduate or equivalent. Health related or science background with lab specific experience preferred.
Must have computer operational skills using a personal computer, laboratory system or other hospital information system.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
Employees in this position will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose.
NOTE:
A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile:
- a) at least once daily,
- b) at least five individual trips per week,
- c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
