Job Description

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an intermediate level Systems Database Administrator IV to join Infrastructure and Communication Technologies (ICT), a unit within UFIT. Infrastructure and Communication Technology (ICT) manages UF’s Data Center and delivers hosted server, storage, virtualization, database, email, and related systems. The Database Platform team is responsible for the architecture, engineering, and administration of UFIT’s core database infrastructure, designing, building, and maintaining critical database services such as Postgre

SQL, MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle, and others.

This role supports the design, security, and automation of our enterprise database ecosystem, working with senior administrators to manage the full lifecycle of database software (Oracle, SQL Server, Open Source) on Linux and Windows, with heavy use of Ansible automation for high availability, disaster recovery, and consistent patching.

Key Responsibilities

• Software lifecycle: install, configure, and patch RDBMS binaries (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, Postgre
  
  SQL, Yugabyte) across the enterprise.
• Automation: maintain and execute Ansible playbooks for automated patching and configuration management.
• Reliability: support high‑availability clusters, participate in DR testing and backup validation.
• Infrastructure design: assist with requirement gathering, vendor analysis, and proof‑of‑concept testing for new solutions.
• Operational support: participate in a shared 24/7 on‑call rotation and troubleshoot connectivity or performance issues.

Expected Salary

$90,000 – $105,000, commensurate with education and experience.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience but does not negate the minimum degree requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced HA/DR: hands‑on experience with Oracle Data Guard, SQL Always On, or Postgre
  
  SQL replication.
• Virtualization & cloud: familiarity with VMware (vSphere/vRA) or cloud database services (AWS/Azure).
• Enterprise tooling: experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Git for version control, and enterprise backup solutions.
• Provide excellent service through professional and courteous interactions with internal and external stakeholders while meeting business needs.
• Ability to work and communicate in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused, critical production support and development environment.
