Project Type: Contract to Hire

Travel Requirement: Overnight travel Sunday-Thursday; onsite at client locations during standard business hours. Occasional overtime may be required.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to support nationwide retail client locations with advanced commercial printer upgrades, maintenance, and technical troubleshooting. This role is highly travel-intensive and requires strong technical expertise, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently in fast‑paced environments.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform project-based upgrades on advanced commercial printers at retail sites.
  • Replace printer components including paper feeds, power supplies, print heads, toner drums, transfer belts, and image units.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues involving printers, servers, hard drives, monitors, and related systems.
  • Provide on-site technical support to internal and external customers, handling elevated or complex technology issues.
  • Install, remove, and configure equipment and systems as required.
  • Manage day-to-day operation of applications and equipment; act as primary customer contact for technical and service-related issues.
  • Ensure all schedules, transmissions, and system operations are completed accurately and on time.
  • Serve as liaison between customers and internal departments to facilitate issue resolution and manage change processes.
  • Identify the most cost-effective repair methods to minimize customer downtime.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 2‑3+ years of field service experience with commercial printers required.
  • Must be able to travel extensively via plane and/or car.
  • Experience with large-format or commercial printers;
    Lexmark certification preferred.
  • Strong electronics and mechanical aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of Windows OS, multi-platform Windows environments, networking, databases, and network security concepts.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Outlook.
  • Experience with tools such as Rufus, Windows Server imaging, photo printing systems, and troubleshooting connectivity and configuration issues.
  • Ability to work independently in retail environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Excellent customer service, professionalism, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, maintain attention to detail, and deliver high-quality results.
  • Demonstrated success in fast‑paced, client‑driven environments.
