Operations Manager
The Gainesville Regional Airport is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead the management, operation, and development of Gainesville Regional Airport. Reporting to the Gainesville-Alachua County Regional Airport Authority, this role oversees all airport functions with a focus on safety, efficiency, financial stewardship, and long-term growth. The CEO ensures the airport meets regulatory requirements, advances aviation activity, and serves the region with high-quality facilities and services.
This position calls for a strategic and engaged leader who can guide operations, support a committed workforce, and foster strong partnerships with federal, state, and local agencies.
- Lead, manage, and evaluate day-to-day airport operations, maintenance, and administrative functions.
- Oversee and develop airport staff, cultivating a high-performing and service-oriented team.
- Administer leases, contracts, and operating agreements for airport property and tenants.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing airport use and operations.
- Develop budgets, manage financial performance, and maintain strong fiscal controls.
- Advance commercial and general aviation activity, including business development and community outreach.
- Lead capital improvement planning and pursue funding opportunities through federal and state grant programs.
- Prepare recommendations for Airport Authority consideration on policies, programs, and strategic initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Airport Administration, or related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible airport administration experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.
- Strong knowledge of airport operations, financial management, regulatory requirements, and capital program planning.
- Experience in aviation business development or industrial land development is beneficial.
- FAA pilot’s license and AAAE A.A.E. designation are desirable.
The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $255,000. A salary above the midpoint may be offered to an exceptional candidate.
