HCA Florida North Florida Hospital invites an experienced registered nurse to join our surgical team as an RN Pre‑Postoperative‑Days. The role supports patient care before and after surgery, ensuring quality, safety, and continuity of care.
OverviewAs part of a leading national provider, you will work in a collaborative, patient‑centered environment that values nurses’ expertise. You will contribute to patient safety, workflow improvement, and clinical excellence in the operating room.
Responsibilities- Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
- Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri‑operative process.
- Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, pre‑operative medications, and surgical site verification.
- Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time‑out, debriefing, and universal protocols in accordance with hospital policy.
- Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
- Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care while managing evidence‑based practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team — consisting of providers, surgeons, and surgical technologists.
- Consistently apply the nursing process, critical‑thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care independently.
- Assess patient condition, monitor throughout the shift, and document changes in patient condition and care provided thoroughly.
- Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up measures.
- Participate in rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your voice is heard regarding patient care and surgical workflow improvement.
- On‑call duty may be required during select non‑business hours.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Registered Nurse Diploma or equivalent education.
