The Soft Tissue Minimally Invasive Surgery Service is comprised of a team of board‑certified veterinarians specialized in Soft Tissue Minimally Invasive Surgery (4 faculty clinicians), 10 surgery residents, and 1 surgical intern. The service sees over 1,300 cases per year.
Gainesville is located in north central Florida, near major cultural centers such as Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa, and offers ample recreational opportunities. The fellow will keep a surgery log of all cases managed during the year. The Service routinely performs a variety of minimally invasive and interventional surgical procedures using state‑of‑the‑art endoscopy and interventional radiology equipment. Two endoscopic surgery suites with Karl Storz towers and a dedicated catheter laboratory with a Phillips Azurion 7 fluoroscopy unit are used.
The Service performs an average of 15‑20 surgeries per week (>900 per year), 40‑50% are considered advanced. The minimally invasive case load is robust and supported by all four faculty, two of which are ACVS fellows. Past two fellows completed required case logs in under 10 months.
