Valid driver's license; available to work full time 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, occasional early start 5:00-6:00 am; physical ability to work in various weather conditions and perform manual labor as needed; must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds regularly; physical movement to include kneeling, squatting, bending, lifting and standing.
The Horticultural Science Department, UF/IFAS Horticultural Science Research Grove is looking for a full-time field technician. The following duties include but are not limited to:
- Fieldwork involving propagation, planting and cultivation of peaches, citrus and avocado trees.
- Data collection at experimental trials and analyses in the greenhouse and laboratory.
- Monitor tree requirements and control measurements on microbial or insect infestations.
- Maintain maps and records of materials and activities for trials.
- Assist researchers and personnel with planting, fertilizing, and pruning trees.
- Collect and prepare samples from trials (fruit, soil, leaf).
- Travel to research tree fruit locations in central and south Florida.
Expected Salary: $15-$20/hour commensurate with experience
Required Qualifications- Valid driver's license.

- Physical ability to work in various weather conditions and perform manual labor as needed.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds regularly.
- Physical movement to include kneeling, squatting, bending, lifting and standing.
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or related field preferred but not required.
- Pesticide application license.
- Familiarity with data collection tools and software.
- Previous experience in field research or agricultural practices preferred.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with the research team and local growers.
