Food Analysis Technician; Physical Technician

Overview

Gainesville Science Center – Mérieux Nutri Sciences is hiring a Food Analysis Technician (Physical Technician) at 2183 SE Hawthorne Rd, Gainesville, FL 32641 USA. This entry-level position requires a high level of attention to detail to accumulate large data sets with a high degree of accuracy. All training required for the position will be provided on the job. Grocery store, restaurant, and other food retail experience is a plus.

• Analyze food samples for various physical and/or sensory attributes based on standardized procedures
• Use equipment such as a scale, caliper, viscometer, and colorimeter to evaluate the physical quality of a food product
• Set up workstation for testing, including delivery and pickup of samples, basic daily cleanup, and ensuring proper conduct when interacting with external panelists and/or customers
• Track samples as they are moved through testing
• Communicate with other groups regarding sample arrivals, sensory and physical test schedules, and outstanding samples needed to complete analyses or sensory sessions
• Maintain accurate data records within Excel, Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and Red Jade sensory software
• Report errors to Supervisor and assist in investigation for non-conformances
• Perform other related duties as needed
