A Post-doctoral Associate in Computational Chemistry position is available for graduates in computational or theoretical chemistry or related fields to work on the implementation of the MELD Integrative Structural Biology approach (currently a plugin to OpenMM) into the AMBER suite of programs led by Dr. Perez and co-advised by Dr. Roitberg in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida.
The project includes:
- Software implementation of the MELD approach (plugin to OpenMM) into the AMBER software.
- Performance and scaling of calculations in the new environment on the university supercomputer cluster and application to molecular motors.
The position will be initially awarded for one year, and, contingent upon strong performance and conduct and availability of funds, may be renewed for one year.

Minimum Requirements- PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science (focus computational biology) or related fields required.
- Contributions to MD software development.
- Methods development contributions in the area of computational structural biology.
- Strong background in computational chemistry applied to biomolecules.
- Strong programming skills with a track record of contributions (e.g., Git Hub, Git Lab).
- Experience in molecular dynamics simulations and/or AI applied to biomolecules.
- Programming skills (e.g., Python).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Ability to take initiatives, set priorities, time‑manage, and resolve problems.
