Senior Research Associate – Analytical Support
Employment Type: Temporary to Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (occasional overtime as needed)
Location: Gainesville, FL (on-site laboratory and office)
Pay Rate: $25–$34 per hour (based on experience)
Position SummaryThe Senior Research Associate, Analytical Support provides hands‑on analytical and laboratory support for a variety of applied research and technical programs. This role is part of a shared analytical resources team that supports multiple internal projects and stakeholders. The position involves performing complex analytical testing using a range of instrumentation, ensuring adherence to QA/QC and safety standards, and supporting laboratory operations through data generation, documentation, and technical collaboration.
This is a temporary‑to‑hire opportunity for an experienced analytical professional who enjoys applied research, working across multiple projects, and maintaining high standards of data integrity and laboratory performance.
Key Responsibilities- Perform sample preparation, processing, and analysis using established analytical methods, including gas chromatography (GC), liquid chromatography (LC), ion chromatography (IC), and wet chemistry techniques.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation to ensure reliable and accurate performance.
- Follow documented procedures, QA/QC protocols, and safety requirements while generating high‑quality, defensible data.
- Accurately record experimental data and prepare concise summaries and technical documentation.
- Support multiple analytical and research programs concurrently while maintaining strong organization and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with scientists, project leaders, and technical staff to meet project objectives and timelines.
- Assist with laboratory readiness, including inventory management, instrument upkeep, and preparation for specialized studies or field support.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure data validity.
- Support laboratory safety initiatives, including contributing to chemical hygiene and safety plans.
- Provide technical guidance and informal mentoring to other laboratory staff as appropriate.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of hands‑on analytical laboratory experience.
- Demonstrated experience using GC, LC, IC, and wet chemistry methods.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC principles and laboratory documentation practices.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with environmental or industrial analytical testing.
- Instrument maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience supporting applied research or multi‑project laboratory environments.
- Familiarity with field sampling or field‑based analytical support.
