Responsible for assisting the Store Manager in the store’s daily operation and achievement of sales results, while assuring the delivery of excellent customer/donor service. Manages the processing of donated goods, and works with the store’s managers to ensure staff are properly trained and performing effectively. Responsible for opening and closing the store in the absence of the Store Manager and Key Holder.
Minimum QualificationsEducation
- High School or GED preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years prior retail management experience preferred.
- Two- or Four-year Degree Preferred, Or Equivalent Work Experience.
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration
- None
Other
- Demonstration of team leadership skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to read and comprehend.
- Advanced customer service skills.
- Ability to promote and be responsible for workplace safety.
- Ability to handle customer/donor/employee relations (in the absence of a Store Manager).

- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Essential Duties (In the absence of and/or in conjunction with the Store Manager, the following duties are executed.)
- Management Duties:
- Supervises the processing of donated goods in a timely and accurate manner following the production system.
- Fosters teamwork among management staff; coaches, trains, and develops the management team; oversees staff training.
- Delegates daily and weekly staff scheduling as needed.
- Addresses employee issues, provides ongoing feedback, conducts performance appraisals, and counsels as necessary.
- Administers disciplinary actions in coordination with the Area Manager and HR.
- Manages store operations, including reporting of sales, donations, and financial results; works toward revenue goals and budgeted expenses.
- Ensures cash handling accuracy and proper accounting for store revenue; maintains store appearance and safety compliance.
- Trains staff on safety and company procedures; communicates store policies consistently to staff.
- Customer/Donor Relations:
Maintains high standards of customer service and reinforces Goodwill’s mission. - Administrative Duties:
- Communicates transportation needs with the Area Manager.
- Opens and closes the store timely; reports facilities issues; makes daily deposits.
Back of Store Duties (30%):
- Maintain a well-organized and clean production area.
- Facilitate unloading/loading of product from/to company trucks.
- Train employees on processing, sorting, hanging, and organizing donated goods.
- Greet donors and provide itemized receipts if desired.
- May remove donations from donor vehicles.
- Sort and prepare items for sales floor and ensure proper binning of merchandise.
Front of Store Duties (30%):
- Train employees on register procedures and store layout.
- Process customer transactions, assist customers, and maintain sales floor appearance.
- Pull merchandise from back production to sales floor and organize racks by type and color.
- Ensure security and report issues as required.
Other duties as assigned, including travel to other stores as needed (10%).
