Description
An Irrigation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems for residential and commercial properties. This includes setting up irrigation components like sprinklers, valves, and controllers, troubleshooting system issues such as leaks or poor water pressure, and ensuring systems operate efficiently for optimal water usage. The technician is also responsible for performing regular maintenance tasks, such as winterizing systems or replacing damaged parts, and ensuring all work complies with safety and local code regulations.
Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential for this role.
An Irrigation Technician typically requires hands‑on experience with irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair, as well as a solid understanding of system components like valves, sprinklers, and controllers. Knowledge of water conservation practices and local codes is important. The role requires the ability to troubleshoot issues such as leaks and poor water pressure, along with a strong attention to detail. A valid driver’s license is required, and physical stamina is necessary for outdoor work.
Certifications in irrigation or water management are often preferred but not always required.
