Job Summary: CT Mechanical is hiring a Certified Field Welder with advanced skills in MIG and TIG welding
, specifically on stainless steel duct systems
. This is a field installation role
, not a fabrication shop position. You will be part of a mobile install crew, building and welding duct systems on-site in commercial settings. A 6G welding certification is a strong asset, and candidates must be capable of reading blueprints, fitting components in place, and performing high-quality, field-ready welds under real-world conditions.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Perform on-site MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel duct systems
• Fit, align, and secure duct sections prior to welding
• Weld in various positions (flat, vertical, overhead) under field conditions
• Read and follow mechanical blueprints and install plans
• Verify weld quality and inspect final joints for integrity and safety compliance
• Work as part of a field install team, coordinating closely with foremen and project managers
• Ensure proper use of PPE and maintain safety standards on active construction sites
• Adapt to varying job site conditions, including elevated work and confined spaces
• Travel between job sites as required by project needs (within regional area)
• Support site-specific tasks such as rigging, layout, and system adjustments

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Certified Welder with MIG and TIG capabilities (required)
• 6G Certification is strongly preferred
• Minimum 3–5 years of field welding experience in mechanical or commercial HVAC installs
• Experience with stainless steel duct systems required
• Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings, ductwork layouts, and site plans
• Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and at heights
• Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
• OSHA 10 or 30 Certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire)
• Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Commitment to safety, quality, and doing the job right the first time
