Bilingual Parent Liaison
The Bilingual Parent Liaison will support and increase parent and family engagement in the school community. The liaison is responsible for establishing effective communication between home and school and improving outreach opportunities for local Hispanic families of the school’s students. The effectiveness of the liaison’s work should positively impact students’ academic achievement.
Responsibilities- Contact parents, families, or stakeholders through a variety of communication tools (phone, email, social media, newsletter, etc.) in order to encourage participation and engagement in school or district activities/events.
- Provide information to parents concerning district or school policy and procedures (registration, curriculum, assessment, discipline, etc.).
- Act as a resource for non‑English speaking families for the purpose of providing information and listening to concerns.
- Develop relationships with community agencies to seek resources or activities that will increase parent or family engagement of Hispanic families in the school.
- Attend and participate in district professional learning and meetings.
- Provide interpreting in English and Spanish for parents, teachers, and administrators during conferences, meetings, workshops, or any other type of activity where communication is needed.
- Maintain accurate records and complete necessary paperwork related to parent and family engagement.
- Plan and implement parent information sessions that emphasize strategies for supporting students academically and socially.
- Assist faculty and staff in developing and maintaining a welcoming environment for families.
- Work with faculty, staff, and administration on developing programs, activities, and events geared toward parent and family engagement.
- Attend all meetings to provide translating services for families; some evening hours may be required. Occasional home visits with an administrator, resource officer, or counselor may also be required.
- Translate documents (letters or presentations) from Spanish to English and English to Spanish.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the administration.
- Operate standard office equipment.
- Use school‑related computer software and applications such as Infinite Campus, Google Drive, and Microsoft Office (Word & PowerPoint).
- Basic phone etiquette, tact, and courtesy.
- Flexibility in working with a diverse group of people.
- Flexibility in daily schedule.
- Basic problem‑solving skills.
- Establish good working relationships with all faculty and staff.
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
