Process Engineer (Automation Engineer)
Full-time regular position in the Plastics Manufacturing team located in Gainesville, GA.

Job type & locationFull‑time, 07:30 am to 04:30 pm (in person).
Responsibilities- Conduct machine and process capability studies and implement improvements.
- Support FMEA, APQP, and Control Plan creation and review.
- Develop investment suggestions and give recommendations.
- Carry out commissioning and acceptance of equipment and machines.
- Coordinate supplier selection, request offers and evaluate them.
- Define process parameters and ensure adherence.
- Create and adapt work instructions.
- Develop automation concepts and support process development for new projects in coordination with Industrial Engineering.
- Prepare, evaluate and coordinate complex solution concepts constructively.
- Examine machine function, layout and design of electrical installations (feasibility). Select and modify components as needed.
- Design and build smaller complex process solutions.
- Modify and enhance existing complex processes, functions and elements.
- Commission processes and measuring systems.
- Program machine controls and teach robots.
- Ensure safety of machines and designs, conduct preliminary tests (feasibility study and specifications).
- Identify and implement potential savings.
- Develop and implement process optimisation measures, including partial process solutions and manufacturing process modifications.
- Participate in 8D problem‑solving activities, analyse complex alarms and remove root causes.
- Maintain automation maintenance history and share information via SharePoint.
- Support complex process changes and faults beyond BU‑level.
- Determine root causes for complaints and develop corrective actions.
- Plan spare parts requirements and initiate orders.
- Introduce employees to installations, instruct them and create training material.
- Supervise interns and bachelor students.
- Ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations (environment per ISO
14001, company and BU standards). - Initiate process improvement projects using data‑driven and statistically designed experiments to enhance quality, reduce cost, improve safety and increase earnings.
- Assist the quality department to verify process parameters and monitor functionality of quality‑related devices.
- Be on call when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Manufacturing and IATF standard experience preferred.
- Technical writing and logical hands‑on problem‑solving skills.
- Project management experience with cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to work in metric and inch units.
- Knowledge of databases, OT/IT connectivity, and high‑voltage electrical installations.
- Thorough knowledge of statistics.
- Team‑oriented mindset.
- Self‑driven and motivated to learn.
- Computer skills, including MS Office.
- Ability to read schematics (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic).
