The Babies Can’t Wait program serves children under 3 years old who have special needs, developmental delays or chronic health conditions. We provide screening for developmental concerns, evaluating physical and cognitive health, motor skills, communication, social/emotional growth and adaptive development.

As a Service Coordinator Liaison within the Children’s with Special Needs Division at District Two, Georgia Department of Public Health, you will work alongside a dedicated group of public health professionals helping protect the lives of Georgian residents. District 2 Public Health serves 13 counties in northeast Georgia, including Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties.

Job Responsibilities

Under supervision, learns to provide technical assistance and training within a health care specialty. Plans, directs, and implements a specialty program. Evaluates programs for compliance with state and/or federal guidelines.

Job Duties
  • Reviews and follows‑up with Service Coordinators regarding APR reports to ensure APR timelines are met and reports status updates and progress to EIC bi‑weekly.
  • Provides training and technical assistance and monitors the quality‑of‑service provision for BCW Special Instructors and Service Coordinators.
  • Assists in co‑facilitating the Primary Service Provider meetings for all PSP Teams in the district and assists in entering payment for all PSP team meetings into BCW database.
  • Assists with monitoring, assessing, auditing, and evaluating all BCW contract providers to determine compliance with state/federal guidelines and time periods. Includes random quarterly review of notes for quality documentation.
  • Assists with providing technical assistance, policy support and advice to develop, implement and improve DPH and/or the BCW program.
  • Completes timely and accurate data management, IFSP reviews/finalizations, and closures of files.
  • Assists with review of determination of eligibility evaluations when needed.
  • Attend Health Fairs and Public Awareness Fairs and participate in all child find activities.
  • Assists with facilitation of LICC meetings and events.
  • Take new referrals and assign new referrals as needed.
  • Attends required BCW trainings as needed.
  • Completes travel requests and expense forms timely and accurately.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related seminars, conferences, and the like.
  • Creates and maintains a high‑performance environment characterized by positive leadership and dedicated team orientation.
  • Carry a small Service Coordination and/or special instruction caseload as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND two years of experience performing work related to the area of assignment OR six years of experience performing work related to the area of assignment.
