EMT - Medical Transport - Full Time Nights

Join Veterans in Healthcare in Gainesville, GA as an EMT in the Medical Transport team working full‑time nights (12‑hour shifts). Reports to the Medical Transport Supervisor and provides pre‑hospital care to patients across all age groups.

Job Summary

Under direct supervision of the Medical Transport Supervisor, the EMT must treat, stabilize and transport patients. Responsibilities include administering medications, performing vital sign measurements and maintaining emergency vehicle readiness in accordance with GA Department of Public Health, the Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma, and NGHS standards.

Minimum Job Qualifications

• State certification as Emergency Medical Technician.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Level I EMT – no experience required; pay commensurate with experience.
• Approval by the Department of Public Health to operate emergency vehicles.

Preferred Job Qualifications

• Additional certifications.
• Higher education beyond high school.
• Previous experience in medical transport.
• Other relevant skills.

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

• Administer epinephrine auto‑injectors for anaphylaxis.
• Perform pulse oximetry and blood glucose measurements and interpretation.
• Administer pre‑measured nebulized bronchodilator doses.
• Administer oxygen via nasal cannula or mask (not HFNC).
• Serve as primary patient caregiver during transport.
• Knowledge of laws pertaining to emergency vehicle operation.
• Operate NGHS vehicles under NGHS standards and Georgia laws.
• Maintain all required certifications.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of pre‑hospital emergency medicine and deliver consistent care to all patients.
• Ensure emergency vehicle cleanliness, decontamination, fueling, and full stocking.
• Account for all ambulance equipment and retrieve any left at hospitals.
• Comply with mandatory NGHS education.
• Use sound judgment and NGHS Safety Toolkit for problem resolution.
• Dress in appropriate uniform attire.
• Use radio communication professionally.
• Complete documentation accurately and expeditiously according to Medical Transport standards.
