Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)
Lifepoint Health®

Full Time – Night Shift (3/12 hour shifts, 7pm–7am, rotating weekends).

Facility: 40 private rooms, 61,000‑sqft, located at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC), Gainesville. The new freestanding unit offers a dedicated wing for acquired brain injury and stroke patients, and a large therapy suite with gym, private therapy rooms, cooking therapy room, ADL therapy apartment, and advanced rehabilitation equipment.

Job Summary

Assist nursing staff with patients’ personal care, emotional support, and activities of daily living. More complex duties performed under supervision of licensed nursing personnel.

Qualifications
  • Completion of a certified nursing assistant course.
  • Current state certification as a Nursing Assistant.
  • CPR/BCLS certification.
  • Minimum six months experience in an acute or long‑term care facility preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Functions
  • Perform patient care responsibilities considering age‑specific standards of care.
  • Provide morning and evening care, including bathing, oral hygiene, and room sanitation.
  • Notify licensed personnel when patients complain of pain.
  • Prepare patients for meals, serve and remove trays, and assist with feeding.
  • Distribute drinking water and other nourishment.
  • Answer patient call lights and anticipate patient needs.
  • Assist with personal property (dentures, glasses, hearing aids, etc.).
  • Maintain patient safety and reduce risk of medical/health care errors.
  • Transport patients to and from departments.
  • Record changes in patient condition and unusual incidents.
  • Assist in admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Assist licensed staff with treatment procedures.
  • Revise plan of care as needed and evaluate effectiveness daily.
  • Integrate rehabilitation treatment plan with nursing plan of care.
  • Provide general nursing care: positioning, lifting, turning, using equipment.
  • Check for skin breakdown and report to nursing staff.
  • Obtain and record vital signs and intake/outlet.
  • Assist with bedpan and commode use.
  • Maintain good relationships within and outside the department.
  • Communicate clearly with nurses, supervisors, co‑workers, physicians, and rehab staff.
  • Consult other departments for interdisciplinary care.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and capability under stress.
  • Treat patients and families with respect, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Practice efficient use of supplies and linens, following charge procedures.
  • Follow infection control procedures.
  • Comply with documentation standards and policies.
  • Operate equipment safely.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies.
  • Perform duties within scope of practice.
  • Other duties as assigned.
