As a Public Health Registered Nurse within the Living Bridge at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures. Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Delivers initial medical and social support to new and returning patients.
  • Creates and implements treatment plans for high‑acuity cases.
  • Manages caseloads to ensure adherence to plan and coordination with community partners to secure services and follow‑up on referrals.
  • Identifies high‑risk populations and tailors interventions based on the needs of the population and the resources available.
  • Provides treatments, administers medications/vaccines, and provides preventative and maintenance care to patients and families consistent with the care plan and/or physician treatment plan.
  • Screens and refers clients to other community service providers.
  • Participates in drills and exercises on pandemic influenza, mass sheltering, and mass dispensing.
  • Participates in the planning, organizing, and evaluation of program areas to ensure the goals and objectives of the program are being met.
  • Provides health care, first aid, immunizations, and assistance in convalescence and rehabilitation.
  • Conducts comprehensive assessments of clients’ health care needs.
  • Conducts community needs assessments.
  • Develops comprehensive plans of care for individuals, families, and populations.
  • Modifies client marchés as indicated by clients’ responses and

  • Provides health education, instruction, and/or classes to individuals and families for the promotion and maintenance of health.
  • Coordinates program services with other service providers and community organizations to promote optimal implementation.

Qualifications

Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire, current Georgia Registered
* Professional Nurse
* license and CPR certification.

OR

One (1) year of experience at the lower‑level PH Registered Nurse 1 (HCP
190) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
