Under the general supervision of the Superintendent to provide leadership and direction to the overall business and physical operations of the district, including budget and finance, purchasing, facilities planning and construction, transportation, food services, and safety and risk management.
Essential Functions- Collaborates with the leadership team and a wide variety of stakeholders to address organizational objectives and ensure district goals for infrastructure and operations are met.
- Collaborates with the Finance Executive Director on the financial planning and preparation of annual budget requests for school district operations to maintain and improve educational opportunities.
- Oversees the school district's transportation programs, including bus routes, schedules, and contracts to ensure a cost-effective student transportation system.
- Manages the food service and related operations to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
- Manages safety and risk management policies, procedures, and practices to ensure a safe environment for employees and students, complying with legal requirements such as OSHA and Workers' Compensation.
- Directs the purchasing and banking activities, including the RFP process, contracts, and inventory procedures.
- Organizes and directs all aspects of the Facilities Plan, including research, analysis, and design for construction, modernization, and reconstruction of facilities.
- Develops and recommends solutions for new school sites, boundary adjustments, and modifications to existing campus areas based on demographics and student enrollment projections.
- Serves as the liaison with public agencies, technical consultants, and specialists regarding issues related to design, construction, and state funding eligibility.
- Ensures compliance with the City of Gainesville and Hall County Government in relation to specifications, local zoning regulations, and environmental planning data for construction projects.
- Manages and supervises all employees in responsibility areas, including recruitment, selection, training, professional development, and evaluation of staff.
- Provides direction, constructive feedback, and leadership to department staff while ensuring department goals are achieved.
- Serves on the Superintendent’s Cabinet and attends Board of Education work sessions and meetings.
- Valid Georgia Educator Certificate in Educational Leadership required
- Specialist (L6) or Doctorate (L7) degree preferred from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in school, district and/or state-level education administration with demonstrated success
- Experience as a strategic leader in critical planning, change management, facilitation, coaching and counseling others, dispute resolution, and negotiations
- Proven ability to work with others in a confidential, cooperative, and service-oriented manner; excellent listening and communication skills.
- Experience in a system characterized by multi-ethnic and cultural diversity preferred
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel RequirementsTravels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
