The DSI (Sizing) Production Supervisor is responsible for directing, coordinating, and overseeing all Sizing operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality production. This position manages daily production activities with a strong focus on efficiency, labor utilization, food safety, employee safety, product quality, and continuous improvement while meeting company goals and production targets.
Minimum Qualifications (Required)- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Availability to work in a team‑oriented environment, willingness to assist and train others, demonstrate safe behavior, and support department/plant safety goals.
- Ability to work overtime as needed, including weekends.
- Ability to follow the superintendent’s instructions.
- Prior experience in a food processing, production or packing environment (2‑5 years experience in a lead or supervisory position).
- Familiarity with Safety and Food Safety protocols, ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees and management.
- Effective problem‑solving and decision‑making skills in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by production.
- Ensure all processes, people, and procedures align with company goals, policies, and performance expectations.
- Maintain a strong focus on employee safety and product/food safety at all times, ensuring compliance with all safety, USDA, and quality standards.
- Ensure proper staffing levels daily to meet production demands, including managing attendance, coverage, and labor allocation.
- Lead, train, and develop team members to achieve production, quality, and efficiency goals.
- Monitor production performance, efficiency, yields, and downtime, taking corrective action as needed.
- Promote and support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Ensure proper operation and monitoring of equipment including Combo Dumpers, DSI Water Portioning, Mega Jets Water Portioning, Slitters, Bone X‑Ray systems, Sorters (piece weight classifiers), scales, conveyor belts, and scan guns.
- Communicate effectively with management, quality, maintenance, and other departments to resolve production issues.
