Position Purpose
The 1:1 School Nurse provides individualized nursing care to an assigned student, ensuring their health, safety, and ability to participate fully in the school day.
Essential Functions- Provide direct one-on-one care according to the student's healthcare plan, medical orders, and Individualized Education Plan.
- Administer medications and treatments (e.g., G-tube feeds, respiratory care, seizure management, tracheostomy, ventilator, and other clinical procedures).
- Monitor the student's health status and respond to medical needs or emergencies.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) as required.
- Document all nursing care and maintain compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
- Communicate and collaborate with teachers, families, and healthcare providers.
- Accompany the student to classes, transportation, and school activities as needed.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisors or other administrators.

- Active RN or LPN license.
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- Strong clinical assessment and emergency response skills.
- Pediatric or school nursing experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to provide care for ill or injured students.
- Ability to convey appropriate medical information to school district staff or medical professionals in the school setting.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed for position.
- Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Power point, the Internet, Outlook, electronic mail).
- Ability to problem solve job-related issues.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and students with special needs.
- Ability to follow oral and written orders from supervisors, administrators, physicians, and to coordinate work with principal, teachers and others.
- Ability to describe orally and in writing school health services provided, issues and concerns regarding school health.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to assist with lifting and mobility needs.
- Ability to move throughout the school environment.
- Uses medical equipment to provide health care to student, including, but not limited to, blood glucose monitor, stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers.
- Uses personal computers.
