After over four decades in the trucking industry, Turbo Terminal Tractors is now one of the nation’s largest operations for the leasing of new and used terminal tractors of a variety of quality name brands. We started over 40 years ago as a truck repair shop. This history in the service side of the business has been important in establishing our ability to maintain maximum uptime for our leasing customers with terminal tractor fleets.

The TTC Diesel Mechanic position supports the shop operations by performing higher level mechanical maintenance and repair functions in addition to routine mechanical and preventive maintenance duties. The role includes performing inspections, maintenance, and repair; maintaining required computerized and manual records of all repairs; and coordinating repairs with technicians in adherence to company policies, procedures, values, and behavioral expectations.

• Accurately determines vehicle condition by conducting thorough and prompt inspections and diagnostic tests; accurately identifies worn and damaged parts.
• Consistently and accurately maintains computerized records using company authorized maintenance computer software.
• Provides excellent road service to fleet vehicles as required.
• Accurately and promptly performs repairs and/or rebuilds transmissions and engines as required.
• Performs highly effective and timely preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of transmissions, differentials, engines, injectors, steering systems, starters, and universal joints.
• Completes the proper installation and adjustment of brakes, batteries, tires, and safety devices.
• Overhauls all other major mechanical components.
• Completes and maintains all necessary written and computer documentation in accordance with shop procedures accurately and timely.
• Consistently and accurately determines and orders correct parts for the effective completion of all job tasks.
• Complies with OSHA regulations and shop health safety standards by wearing prescribed PPE.
• Adheres to all company policies, procedures, management directives and performance objectives.
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment to optimize effective job performance and customer service.
• Enhances the shop operations and the company’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
• Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Maintains a professional and collaborative relationship with all customers, TTC team members and management.
• Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• A/C certification preferred.
• DOT inspector qualifications (396.19) preferred.
• Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License required; CDL Class A preferred.

• Minimum 2 years of truck/diesel maintenance and preventive maintenance experience.
• Preferred 2 years of air brake inspection (396.25).
• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and determine the appropriate maintenance intervention.
• Ability to effectively repair and maintain engines, air systems, A/C systems, brakes, batteries, tires, and safety devices.
• Assist with the overhauling of all other major components.
• Perform inspections of equipment for operating deficiencies.
• Read and understand electrical schematics.
• Troubleshoot and repair all types of transmissions and low voltage electrical systems.
• Proficiency with all required shop tools and equipment including computerized diagnostic tools.
• Read and adhere to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Assist team members in the safe operation of all equipment.
• Work in a positive, fast-paced, high-energy environment.
• Consistently demonstrate a positive attitude and effective team behaviors that strengthen the shop and build positive, professional relationships.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective customer service skills.
• Basic proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and web-based applications preferred.
