Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Diesel Technician

JP Industries – Gainesville, GA

Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive hourly pay based on experience and ability

Job Description

JP Industries is seeking an experienced, dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our growing operation in Gainesville, Georgia.

We specialize in purchasing, repairing, reconditioning, and reselling heavy construction equipment, including compact track loaders, skid steers, excavators, dozers, and other diesel-powered machinery.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who can independently diagnose mechanical problems, perform repairs efficiently, and take pride in producing quality work. Our shop handles a wide variety of equipment, providing opportunities to work on different machines and challenging repairs rather than performing repetitive maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and powertrains.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic software, service manuals, and testing equipment.
  • Perform engine repairs, hydraulic component replacements, and major mechanical repairs.
  • Inspect incoming equipment and identify necessary repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and equipment servicing.
  • Prepare and recondition machinery for resale.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and productive work environment.
  • Work independently and communicate repair needs, parts requirements, and progress to management.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience repairing heavy construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or similar diesel machinery.
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to diagnose problems independently rather than simply replacing parts.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar, John Deere, Kubota, Takeuchi, Komatsu, or similar manufacturers preferred.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools, electrical testing equipment, and hydraulic pressure gauges.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to manage time effectively.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Full-time employment with consistent work.
  • Established shop with equipment and resources to perform repairs.
  • Variety of machinery and repair projects.
  • Opportunity for advancement as our company continues to grow.
  • Independent working environment without unnecessary micromanagement.
