The Transport Deputy will ensure that all policies and procedures for the safe transport of inmates from the Cooke County Detention Center to the Cooke County Courthouse and return are employed. The safety of the public and inmates in the deputy's custody is paramount. The Transport Deputy will assist the judges and bailiffs of the Cooke County and District Courts in maintaining the order and decorum of those inmates in custody in the courtrooms.

The Transport deputy will be responsible for the physical screening of inmates in the prevention of weapons or contraband in the inmates' possession, previous to entering court, and before reentering the detention center. The Transport deputy will perform emergency first aid for inmates when applicable. The Transport deputy will be required to deliver or retrieve inmates from or to the Texas Department of Corrections, multiple cities, counties, and State facilities.

The Deputy will also conduct transportation of inmates to and from medical facilities as required or directed. The Transport Deputy works under the direction of the Cooke County Detention Center Director or his designee. The Transport Deputy is subject to the usual physical exertions and hazards of law enforcement work and is required to perform additional duties as directed, but not enumerated here.

  • Must possess an ACTIVE Texas Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Law Enforcement Commission and anACTIVE TCOLE Jailers' Certification
  • 2 years experience as a Peace Officer and prisoner transport, preferred
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver's license
  • Must have never been convicted of a Family Violence, Felony, or Class A offense
  • No Class B Misdemeanor charge or above pending, or final conviction of a Class B Misdemeanor within the last 10 years
  • Must pass the Texas Law Enforcement Commission mandated Physical and Psychological requirements
