Director of Facility Maintenance – North Texas Medical Center
Salary: $92,000–$120,000. Reports to the hospital CEO.
Job SummaryThe Director of Facility Maintenance is responsible for the direction and management of the hospital facility and other clinic buildings on the campus. The role covers day‑to‑day physical plant operations, budgeting, and personnel management.
Summary of Essential Job Functions- Monitors departmental personnel matters: interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating performance, and dealing with grievances.
- Develops, evaluates and implements departmental policies, procedures, goals, and work standards for maintenance and repair of medical equipment, buildings, and systems.
- Participates in the development and application of quality and productivity standards for the maintenance department.
- Administers and implements the maintenance program to ensure uninterrupted operation of the full physical plant.
- Coordinates repairs of equipment and recommends replacements or additions as necessary.
- Works closely with other departments to negotiate priorities, plan schedules, make job assignments, order materials, and outsource specialty contractors when needed.
- Schedules and supervises maintenance repair work, alterations, remodeling, minor construction, and the checkout, installation, and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Maintains an inventory of parts and supplies to maximize readiness within cost and regulatory constraints.
- Selects and coordinates maintenance service contractors, ensuring compliance with contractual and code requirements.
- Develops the annual operating budget including personnel, equipment, materials, and supplies, and monitors spending after adoption.
- Administers preventive maintenance for fire alarm system per NFPA criteria and develops related policies.
- Maintains personnel records, audits time cards, and prepares operating reports.
- Oversees daily performance and grounds care to provide a uniform, satisfactory appearance.
- Ensures a safe environment for employees and patients by controlling physical, chemical, and biomedical hazards.
- Ensures supplies and inventory needed for patient care are available, appropriate, and within expiration limits.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Knowledge of hospital and utility systems management.
- 3–5 years relevant experience in facilities maintenance, building construction, remodeling, project management, or equipment repair.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, bend, kneel, twist and reach above shoulder level.
- Must be able to sit, stoop, bend, and reach above head.
- Exposed to changing environmental conditions.

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
