Description
Seeking a RN that provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting. Communicates with physicians, nurse manager, and co‑workers, as appropriate, about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
Responsibilities- Perform a head‑to‑toe assessment on all patients and reassessments per policy. Includes pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and general patient populations.
- Assess and reassess pain, utilize appropriate pain management techniques, and educate patient and family regarding pain management.
- Revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall daily effectiveness.
- Perform waived testing (point‑of‑care testing, glucometers) per Clinical Laboratory and resident care unit policies and procedures.
- Interpret results of waived tests and take appropriate action.
- Perform patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care of patient’s age.
- Know medications and their correct administration based on age and clinical condition.
- Follow the six medication rights and reduce potential medication errors.
- Formulate a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning; family included in teaching as appropriate.
- Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills.
- Perform treatments and provide services to level licensure.
Full‑time nights (7 p.m. – 7 a.m.)

Requirements- High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Current RN license in the state of Texas
- Current BLS certification
- ACLS certification within first 90 days
- NIHSS certification within first 90 days
- Previous Med Surg experience preferred
