The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. They greet customers, provide excellent service, maintain a clean work area, and present merchandise according to brand and safety standards.
Essential Functions- Practice and promote a safety‑first mindset.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor, keeping egress clear and reporting hazards.
- Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy.
- Assist customers at registers, answer questions, and provide prompt service.
- Handle customer issues courteously, escalating to leadership when needed.
- Support the Ross brand through professional behavior.
- Perform cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, and maintaining restroom supplies.
- Adhere to the company dress code at all times.
- Execute daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat and merchandised.
- Expedite merchandise receipts to the sales floor and ensure accurate presentation.
- Understand loss prevention programs, merchandise protection standards, and the Shortage Highway.
- Safeguard confidential and cash information with integrity.
- Follow Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies for proper processing of disposals.
- Manage cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions accurately.

- Perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail.
- Operate store equipment such as PDTs, registers, and PCs.
- Stand, walk, and move throughout the store for up to 100% of the shift.
- Bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
- Pushed, pulled, or lifted more than 25 pounds occasionally.
- Use janitorial equipment and other assigned supplies.
- Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling, or lifting more than 20 pounds.
