Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day payment operations for a team based in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This long-term contract opportunity is well suited for someone who is highly organized, accurate, and comfortable managing invoice workflows in a fast-paced environment. The person in this role will work closely with leadership and internal partners to help maintain timely processing, reliable records, and consistent financial controls.

Responsibilities:

• Process a high volume of vendor invoices with close attention to accuracy, approvals, and payment timelines.
• Assign proper general ledger and account coding to invoices before entry into the payment system.
• Review billing documents for completeness, resolve discrepancies, and follow up with internal contacts or vendors as needed.
• Prepare and support ACH payments and check runs in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
• Maintain organized accounts payable records to ensure documentation is current, accessible, and audit-ready.
• Partner with the IT manager and other internal stakeholders to support accounts payable activities and related operational needs.
• Monitor outstanding items, reconcile payment issues, and help ensure vendors are paid correctly and on time.
