Position PurposeThe Recreation Assistant supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic recreational activities tailored to each participant’s care plan. This role enhances the participant experience through engaging programs that promote socialization, physical activity, and lifelong learning.

ShiftDescription:
Full time shifts maintaining care continuity.
- Demonstrate Trinity Health’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Guiding Behaviors in all interactions.
- Create a warm, welcoming environment for participants, caregivers, and staff.
- Plan and lead group and individual activities, including dementia‑specific programming.
- Support participants’ cognitive, physical, social, and artistic development.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless activity delivery.
- Maintain accurate documentation and assist in developing care plans and monthly calendars.
- Monitor and manage recreational supplies and equipment.
- Provide training and support to staff on recreational programming.
- Develop quarterly newsletters for participants and caregivers.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including Universal Precautions.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum one year of experience with elderly or frail populations; training provided if less.
- Preferred education/training in geriatrics or dementia care.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, or ASL).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software.
- Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
- May require up to 10% travel within the region.
Pay Range: $16.29–$19.14/hr
