SME to join the Chinook Program
, where you’ll help design and develop modern applications that support GEOINT data access, visualization, and dissemination. You’ll work in a collaborative Agile environment, partnering with mission users, architects, and cloud engineers to deliver secure, high-performance software solutions.

The Intelligence Production Solutions Division (IPSD), part of the Decision Advantage Solutions Business Area
, is seeking an experienced Software Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Chinook Program
. Chinook delivers mission-critical, modern software solutions across the GEOINT enterprise using Agile, Dev Sec Ops , and cloud-native practices.

In this role, you will lead the design and development of scalable applications and services that power GEOINT production, data services, and mission user interfaces. You will collaborate closely with customer Product Owners, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performance solutions within classified cloud environments.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead software engineer and technical advisor for enterprise applications under the Chinook Program.
  • Design, build, and maintain enterprise‑grade microservices and APIs that support GEOINT data workflows.
  • Lead Agile development sprints, guide architectural decisions, and enforce Dev Sec Ops  best practices.
  • Develop and optimize containerized applications for deployment in classified AWS (C2S/Gov Cloud) or IC ITE environments.
  • Collaborate with mission stakeholders, analysts, and developers to translate mission requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with customer and IC‑wide cybersecurity, data governance, and interoperability standards (OGC, NSG, etc.).
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to long‑term technical strategy and documentation.
Basic Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 12–15 years of relevant experience, or
  • Master’s degree with 10–13 years of relevant experience.

Proficiency in:

  • Web: HTML, CSS, JSON, Ajax, REST APIs
  • Frameworks: React, Angular, Vue.js, jQuery, Spring Boot, Django, Node.js, Flask, or Svelte
  • Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, or similar
  • Databases: MySQL, Postgre

    SQL, or SQL Server
  • Version Control: Git

Hands‑on experience with AWS (C2S/Gov Cloud) and Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools (Terraform, Cloud Formation).

Demonstrated success building and deploying containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience with Dev Sec Ops  tool chains such as Git Lab CI/CD, Jenkins, Sonar Qube, Nexus, Keycloak, and Vault.

Deep understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (JIRA, Confluence).

Familiarity with GEOINT and IC data standards such as OGC WMS/WFS and NSG specifications.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with frontend web development and UI/UX design.
  • Familiarity with No

    SQL databases (Open Search/Elasticsearch).
  • Exposure to multi‑cloud environments (AWS, IBM, Google, Azure, Oracle).
  • Experience with AWS services such as S3, SQS, SNS, EC2, Cloud Formation, and RDS.
  • Understanding of GEOINT functional requirements or related IC systems.
  • Advanced certifications such as AWS Certified Developer or Solutions Architect, CISSP, SAFe Agile, or similar.
