General DescriptionThis position is part of the National Institute of Standards (NIST) Professional Research Experience (PREP) program. Employees will perform technical work that underpins the scientific research of these collaborations in measurement science. The focus of the work is Interactive 3D Visualization and Visual Analytics for Measurement Science, leveraging Trame, VTK, Para View, and other frameworks to build immersive scientific visualization platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Explore measurement science data using information visualization and scientific visualization techniques in an immersive environment.
- Utilize visual and data analytics tools and techniques.
- Analyze and manipulate data on the laptop version of a platform to set up an immersive scientific visualization session for either the CAVETM or Head Mounted Display system.
- Experience with software engineering and data science.
- Experience with Python 3 and Machine Learning.
- Experience with 3D immersive technology and VR application development.
- Must be able to work independently and with other researchers under the guidance of a mentor.
- Experience with Para View and Trame is a plus but not required.
