The City's Aquatics Division is looking for energetic and responsible individuals to fill seasonal Pool Attendant positions at the Water Park at Bohrer Park this summer. The summer season begins Memorial Day weekend (Saturday, May 23, 2026) and runs through Labor Day (Monday, September 7, 2026).
Working as a Pool Attendant is an opportunity to work outside in the summer sun. While the job is rewarding and fun, it comes with a great deal of responsibility too. Duties include enforcing pool and water slide rules, answering the phone, cleaning the facility throughout the day and at closing, and ensuring that customers have a safe, secure, and enjoyable visit to the Water Park!
Pool Attendants may also be selected and trained to work at the Interactive Water Feature at Olde Towne Plaza. Opportunities to work at the City's indoor aquatic facility throughout the year may also be available to successful candidates.
Flexible hours; daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday work is required. Hours per week will vary based on operational needs. Hands‑on training is provided. Starting pay rate is $17.65 per hour and up and will be offered at a level consistent with the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Direct deposit of paychecks is a condition of employment for all City of Gaithersburg employees.

- Assist with daily operation, maintenance, and customer service.
- Monitor pool area for safety and swimmer's compliance with established rules and regulations; ensure visitors have a safe and pleasant experience.
- Provide information regarding facility operations and aquatic activities.
- Facility maintenance such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, collecting/disposing of trash, restocking supplies, etc.
- Respond immediately and appropriately in the event of an emergency.
- Provide outstanding service, pursue continuous improvement, and exceed expectations.

What you will need to be considered:- At least 14 years of age by May 15, 2026.
- Some comparable work or volunteer experience, or participation in one or more recreation activities preferred.
- Must be able to swim at a basic level; desire to become a lifeguard in the future preferred.
- A positive, customer‑focused attitude.
- Ability to deal with customers professionally, diplomatically, and courteously.
- Be dependable, reliable, and punctual with a high level of maturity.
- Ability to use good judgment and enforce rules and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification desirable but not required.
- Or any acceptable equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the job.
