Multi-Modality Technician-PRN )
Twin County Regional Healthcare
Performs Radiology and CT studies to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from infants to geriatric. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all JCAHO, federal, and state laws.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Graduate from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology
- Registered or registry eligible in Radiography by the ARRT
- Registered or registry eligible in CT by the ARRT
- Current BLS certification
- Must have excellent customer relations skills
- Able to safely operate all Radiographic and CT equipment
- Assists in maintaining records and reports
- Takes call as scheduled
- Interacts professionally with patients, patient’s family, physicians, physician’s offices, and other departments throughout the hospital to ensure the appropriate and highest quality of patient care
- Maintains Continuing Education credits as required by the ARRT
- Reports to work on time as scheduled
- Participates in Joint Commission preparation and compliance
- Knows and follows Environment of Care standards
- Knows and follows TCRH Policy and Procedure
- Demonstrates good radiation safety practices
- Is able to perform all routine CT, radiographic, fluoroscopic, Special Procedures, and OR procedures for all age groups including: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Is familiar with the proper procedure for screening patients for contrast risks, injecting contrast, and contrast reactions
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities
- Is familiar with the RIS, Teleradiology, Teleneurology, AW Workstation, and PACS systems
- Monitors departmental activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency of procedures
- Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient
- Is familiar with and follows HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
- Administers Oral and IV contrast under the direction and supervision of a Radiologist
- Sitting and standing for periods exceeding 30 minutes regularly
- Able to assist and transport patients of 300+ pounds to table at waist high or lower
- Lifting and carrying to exceed 15 pounds regularly
- Must be able to transport patients/equipment from one floor to another by elevator
- Must be able to climb stairs
- Requires considerable manual dexterity to operate computer
- Reading and vision required to interpret requisition, set up equipment, interpret and
- Exposure to blood and body fluids is frequent and one must carry out universal precautions according to hospital policy
- May be exposed to injury by irrational and disturbed patients and patients with communicable diseases
- Work involves mental activity
- Work involves potential exposure to ionizing radiation
