Medical Technologist - PRN

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Has earned an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology; and have at least one year of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high Complexity testing; or

Achieved a satisfactory grade as a Medical Technologist in a proficiency examination approved by HHS, and after qualifying as a Laboratory Technologist has had at least one year of pertinent full-time laboratory experience; or

Has earned a bachelor degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; and have at least one year of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing.

Knowledgeable with the ability to practice and teach Medicare Compliance.

Knowledgeable with the ability to practice and teach CLIA 88 regulations.

Knowledgeable concerning clinic laboratory billing to include CPT codes, ICD 9 codes and billing practices.

Standing, sitting, walking, bending (45-90 degree angles) are required.

Reading and writing are required to fulfill the job description.

May be required to lift up to 30 lbs.

Speech, hearing and visual acuity are necessary in order to perform job.

Exposure to blood, body fluids and hazardous wastes is frequent and one must carry out universal precautions according to hospital policy.

May be exposed to injury by irrational and disturbed patients, patients with communicable diseases and/or potentially dangerous equipment.

Work involves mental activity.
