Mortgage Field Services Inspector

FAR INSPECTIONS is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.

Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.

The purpose of the property inspection is to:

• Verify property occupancy.
• Report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.

Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

• Typical inspection should only take 5-6 minutes.
• Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in a mobile app.
• Be able to spend extended periods driving with frequent stops within the assigned territory.

• Computer with an internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will pay for your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection is paid at a flat rate, varying by county and volume. Although you’re paid per inspection, you’ll earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.

Depending on the county—whether urban or rural—you may complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties offer higher rates; higher volume counties offer lower rates. There is no set minimum per month, though work is consistently available month-to-month.

Earn more as you become established, increase availability, or cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
