Adjunct Clinical Instructor

- Plans, modifies, implements and supervises learning experiences based on the diverse needs of students in the clinical facility.
- Consistently incorporates core competencies into clinical rotations in accordance with course objectives.
- Fairly assesses and evaluates student achievement utilizing clinical performance.
- Demonstrates and coordinates effective communication between students, patients, clinical affiliates, and department faculty.
- Collaborates with program faculty to resolve student and clinical affiliate concerns.
- Assists students with written clinical assignments pertaining to patient care.
- Facilitates student engagement with computerized documentation and patient safety initiatives.
- Participates in retention activities and maintains professional relationships with clinical site personnel.
- Prepares appropriate institutional reports and assists with maintenance of program curriculum.
- Assists faculty in developing, reviewing, and updating clinical educational objectives and competencies per accreditation standards.
- Participates in Advisory Committee meetings and assists with accreditation site visits.
- Provides annual documentation of continued professional growth.
- Teach courses as assigned by the Program Director up to the maximum number of contact hours allowed by current accreditation; may teach off-campus courses as required.
- Review course syllabus and Policy and Procedure Manual at least 2 weeks prior to the first class day or within seven days of contract execution.
- Regularly check VSCC email and respond within 48 hours (except weekends).
- Submit final grades by deadlines set by the Registrar.
- Complete required college trainings and all required reports (attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions) and administer surveys by deadlines.
- Advise the Clinical Director at the earliest possibility if unable to teach a class.
- Attend meetings as requested by program faculty and/or Dean.
- Comply with all College and T policies and guidelines.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC (active standing) and licensed in Tennessee.
- Membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC).
- Minimum of two (2) years work experience as an RRT.
- Teaching experience in an accredited respiratory care program or extensive clinical practice.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Supervisory or management experience.
- Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Pay Rate: $675 - $800 per credit hour
